Neue(s) Formen? Form in der Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts und in Improvisationen der Musiktherapie

Der Beitrag untersucht den Formbegriff in der Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts anhand von Aussagen ausgewählter Komponisten und illustriert Entwicklungen zum Verständnis musikalischer Form. Diese Aspekte werden mit Form in Improvisationen der Musiktherapie in Zusammenhang gebracht. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem für Komponisten des 20. Jahrhunderts bedeutungsvollen Zusammenhang von Form und Zeit, der auch für die Musiktherapie von Bedeutung ist. Die Relevanz von Zeiterleben und Zeitgestaltung sowie eines gelingenden Umgehens mit Zeit wird am Beispiel der Depression illustriert. In Improvisationen der Musiktherapie kommt in der Formbildung individuelles Sein in der Zeit zum Ausdruck, über Form und Formgestaltung im Medium Musik erschließen sich insofern wichtige diagnostische und therapeutische Aspekte. Die Untersuchung illustriert darüber hinaus, dass die Grenzen zwischen Musik im künstlerischen wie therapeutischen Kontext durch Veränderungen des Formverständnisses im 20. Jahrhundert durchlässiger geworden sind. Dies zeigt sich in der Betonung des prozessualen Charakters musikalischer Form, in der Berücksichtigung spontaner und improvisierter Gestaltbildung, Form gebender sozialer Interaktion und der Berücksichtigung individuellen Erlebens und Bedeutens von Form.

This article investigates musical form according to statements of selected composers of the 20th century and thus illustrates developments in the understanding of musical form. These aspects are related with form in music therapy. Emphasis is laid on the relation of form and (musical) time, which was relevant for many composers of this period. Findings are connected with time and timing in human life and in (psychiatric) illness and exemplified, here with. The correlations underline the diagnostic and therapeutic significance of form and forming in music therapy improvisations. In addition findings show that the boundaries between music in artistic and in therapeutic context have become less strict in regard to new perspectives on form, indicated by the emphasis on the procedural quality of form, the consideration of improvised form shaping, the relevance of social interaction for musical form and of individual experience and meaning of musical form.
