Abstract / Description
Although there is a long tradition on studying reactivity to major (life) events or daily hassles in general, research on events that originate explicitly from the workplace (work events) has gained traction in recent years. Recent theorizing and empirical research have emphasized that particularly negative events at work may impair self-efficacy (Schmitt & Weigelt, 2023).
Drawing on recent research studying changes in self-efficacy within the working day in response to negative events (Schmitt & Weigelt, 2023) we aim to contribute to a more precise understanding of trajectories of self-efficacy over the course of the day. We will consider short-term shifts in self-efficacy in response to negative events. Drawing on recent episodic research, we focus on how minor events may accumulate or pile up over the course of the day and shape trajectories of self-efficacy.
