An umbrella review of meta-analyses of the correlates of multidimensional perfectionism
Author(s) / Creator(s)
Hill, Andrew P.
Abstract / Description
The last decade has seen the proliferation of meta-analyses dedicated to summarising and aggregating the effects of perfectionism. Indeed, meta-analyses have
been published with such frequency that we have been described as being amidst a “meta-analysis era” for perfectionism. However, due to the volume of meta-analyses now available, and the rapid speed with which they continue to be produced, some stocktaking is needed. Such an exercise will help avoid wasting valuable time, effort, and financial resources on duplication of research, permit the assessment of the quality of the meta-analytical work in a similar manner that primary work is scrutinised, and better direct future research to extend knowledge in this area. To this end, the first umbrella review of meta-analyses examining the correlates of perfectionism will be conducted to catalogue research in this area, and establish both what is known about the correlates of perfectionism and
the confidence in what is known.
