Table of contentsThe Supplementary Materials contain the following items: All explanations of the deviations from pre-registrations of Studies 1 and 2. The Perceived Legitimacy scale items, with information pertaining to the validity of the scale. There is the screening items and manipulation checks, as well as all stimulus materials, used in both experiments. Extra analyses for both studies. In Study 1, we document the same analysis as in the manuscript, except with gender included as a covariate, as well as the original analysis with participants excluded due to failed manipulation checks included. We also conducted the same extra analyses for Study 2, and have incorpated these into the Supplementary Materials document.en_US
