A practical introduction to Bayesian Statistics

Author(s) / Creator(s)

Demšar, Jure

Abstract / Description

Vortrag vom 04.10.2023 im Rahmen der Vortragsreihe "Practices and Tools of Open Science (PTOS)"
Bayesian statistics is slowly but steadily establishing its rightful place in the scientific community. Arguably, its workflow is more intuitive, and its results are easier to interpret in comparison with other approaches. In this workshop, we will first learn the basics concepts behind Bayesian statistics. Next, we will jump right into the fray and use Stan (the most popular framework for doing Bayesian statistics) to develop some basic Bayesian models (e.g., the Bayesian t-test, a model for comparing reaction times, etc.). We will use the developed models on real-world, practical examples and learn how to report and visualize results of Bayesian statistical analyses.
