Code for: Mediation of effects of a CHW-led intervention in an ethnically diverse sample

Abstract / Description

This project involves secondary analysis of data from the Strong Minds, Strong Communities (SMSC) randomized controlled trial. SMSC is a CHW-led intervention that included training in mindfulness and encouraged active engagement and self-efficacy in managing mental health care, and we aimed to examine several hypothesized mediators of change based on theoretical mechanisms of action. Models tested the direct effects of the intervention on outcomes (depression, anxiety, functional impairment) as well as the indirect effects of proposed mediators (mindfulness, patient activation, self-efficacy, and working alliance). Exploratory analyses examined moderation by racial/ethnic group (Latinx, Asian, Non-Latino Black, and Non-Latino White).
