Abstract / Description
Burnout has been widely examined across healthcare professions and appears to be especially prominent in mental health professionals, such as psychologists (O’Connor et al., 2018). Research also suggests that perfectionism may contribute to burnout in these professionals (D’Souza et al., 2011), especially for trainee practitioner psychologists (Richardson et al., 2018). However, research into burnout experiences in trainee counselling psychologists specifically is limited. Moreover, no study has yet examined the role of perfectionistic self-presentation in this relationship. The present study, therefore, aims to examine the relationship between trait perfectionism, perfectionistic self-presentation and burnout in trainee counselling psychologists.
